Situated in the center of Fryeburg village, with panoramic views across the intervale to the White Mountains, The Oxford House Inn is a stately Mission style building hosting a four room inn and gourmet restaurant. Designed and built by renowned Portland architect John Calvin Stevens, the building served as a private residence until 1985.Over the years, the inn has gained a reputation as one of the Mount Washington Valley and Western Maine’s premier gourmet dining destinations and also as an elegant inn for travelers, vacationers & business people.
Rated 3 stars by Mobil guide, the inn has a 50 seat restaurant (open to the public), inviting lounge and bar, and 4 comfortable guest rooms with private baths for overnight lodging. House guests are served a superb breakfast in a glassed-in dining room that overlooks the White Mountains and the Saco River Valley. The inn is surrounded by mountains, lakes & rivers with year-round activities nearby: hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, canoeing, fishing, antiquing, golfing, outlet shopping and scenic walks & drives through the White Mountain National Forest. Wildlife, waterfalls, nature, picnics, photography and quiet walks abound!
The inn is owned by Culinary Institute of America graduate Jonathan Spak and his wife, Natalie. In addition to his formal education, Jonathan has extensive experience as a chef for over fifteen years. His food has been enjoyed at restaurants such as The Water Club in New York, NY and West Street Grill and The Boulders Inn both in Litchfield County, CT. Jonathan takes great care to make sure each offering on his menu is well-balanced in texture as well as flavor. While overall his style is considered contemporary American Cuisine, influences and techniques from Asia, the Southwestern US and France are often incorporated as well. Produce, meats and items such as maple syrup, eggs and some cheeses are sourced locally when in season, and during the summer and fall, most of or vegetables are grown in the fields behind the inn by local farmers! Natalie has worked in the hospitality industry throughout New England as both a restaurant and conference center manager and pastry chef. We offer an exceptional setting for intimate weddings, small reunions, elopements, showers and rehearsal dinners. Each event is unique, and we personally work closely with each event host to plan a menu and setting that reflects the host’s wishes and style. We ensure a beautiful, memorable occasion with attention to detail and unforgettable food.
The Inn's dining room is open from 5:30-9pm Thursday through Monday in the Winter & Spring and Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesday) during the Summer & Fall seasons. A delicious Sunday Brunch is also served to the public year round from 11-2:30pm. Choose your favorite table on our wrap around screened-in front porch, glassed in back porch, candlelit dining room with fireplace, or cozy tavern.
